A favourite recipe from ” Simple Food” by Jill Dupleix. Really its a posh salad Niciose by another name, but she suggests variations using chicken, beans and tomato or aspagagus, avocado and ham.
This translates as ” old man mix” and there are many different versions but the key components are eggs, anchovies and potatoes in a creamy sauce. This version is from ” The Little Swedish Kitchen” by Rachel Khoo. It’s also good served on toast as a snack, without the salad leaves.
An easy Sicilian pasta sauce from Trapani which i found in ” Nigellissima” by Nigella Lawson. If you like you can replace the anchovies with 4 tablespoons of grated pecorino.
A recipe for lamb with a green sauce from Rachel Roddy. It will make a jar of green sauce which will keep in the fridge for a few days. If you don’t eat meat, you could use grilled fish or cheese for this recipe- halloumi would be good.
A quick supper from ” Nigellissima” by Nigella Lawson. Serve with rocket or perhaps some wilted spinach, and good bread if you like to mop up the juices.
This version from Nigella Lawson’s ” Nigellissima” uses fresh tomatoes rather than the tinned tomatoes used in the recipe for Pizzaiola Steak on this site. You can use humanely reared rose veal as an alternative to steak if you like.
