Another recipe from the Palestinian cookbook ” Falastin” by Sami Tamimi and Tara Wigley. Serve with crusty white bread to mop up the juices, or dot with feta cubes or olives. A green salad on the side is good too.
Tagliata would normally be made for a crowd but here is a version for two from Nigella Lawson’s ” Nigellissima”. Serve with fries, steamed potatoes or bread , and /or a rocket salad.
This version from Nigella Lawson’s ” Nigellissima” uses fresh tomatoes rather than the tinned tomatoes used in the recipe for Pizzaiola Steak on this site. You can use humanely reared rose veal as an alternative to steak if you like.
I could very happily eat purple sprouting broccoli every day when it is in season in late winter. This recipe is from Jenny Linford’s ” The London Cookbook”.
My most recent new cookery book purchase ( and i do try to resist) is “Falastin” by Sami Tamimi and Tara Wigley. They are part of the Ottolenghi team, but this book celebrates the people and the food of Palestine. This is the first recipe i have tried and it’s very good.
Vegetables ” Trifolati” is a way of slicing and cooking with garlic, olive oil and parsley. Other ingredients such as wine, chillies or tomatoes are sometimes added. This is from ” River Cafe Two Easy”.
A spicy fresh salad from ” Moro:the Cookbook” by Sam and Sam Clark. Serve as part of a mezze or with meat or fish. You can replace the dried chickpeas with two rinsed and drained 400g cans if wished.
This is a seasonal Lindsey Bareham recipe which I found in Ruth Watson’s ” Fat Girl Slim”. If you are not losing weight you could tear in some ciabatta bread, or serve accompanied by new potatoes.
A simple supper from Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s ” Three Good Things”. It works best with a creamy blue cheese such as Dorset Blue Vinney, Shropshire Blue or Cornish Blue.As an alternative you could use a tangy goats cheese.
A colourful pasta dish from ” The Greens Cook Book” by Deborah Madison and Edward Espe Brown. If you can get cockscombs then any short pasta will do, but try to get a multicoloured one. You can also serve this cold as a pasta salad with a bit of tweaking.
