A delicious chutney which goes very well with smoked mackeral among other things. The recipe is from ” The Women’s Instiute Homemade Jams and Chutneys” by Midge Thomas.

Both my good friend Sherry and my brother Andy have apple trees in their gardens and this year we have received many apples from both- hence we are beginning to try out various recipes for apple crumble. This is a pretty good basic one. You might want to add more or less sugar, i have reduced by 1/4 from the original recipe here.
