I had lots of home grown beetroot from my allotment this year and cooked this delicious recipe from ” Morito” by Sam and Sam Clark. Sadly this book seems to now be out of print, though it appears occasionally on Amazon at inflated prices second hand. The beetroot can also be served with their recipe for Spiced Labneh.

A South Indian dish made with coconut from ” Made in India” by Meera Sodha. It can be served as a side or eaten as the main dish.

I love this simple recipe from Moro. Years ago my work colleagues treated me to a meal in their Exmouth Market restaurant for my 50th birthday present. I can still remember the Yoghurt Cake with Pistachios to this day.

Nigel Slater’s Roots and Rice (2)

This root vegetable recipe is great comfort food for autumn/ winter. You can replace or add to the suggested vegetables with celeriac or swede and/ or add mushrooms. Nigel suggests serving with a trickle of yoghurt with some chopped mint. I think it works well with fried or poached egg. Ive also increased the spicing a little.
