Legume Noodle Soup (8)
Kricket Pickling Liquor (1 litre)
Thai Sweet and Sour Fish (2)
This New Year I’m cooking my way steadily through ” Dominique’s Kitchen” by Dominique Woolf. I love her tweaks to traditional thai recipes such as using fish rather than prawns or chicken in this dish. If you want to use prawns instead, just add them after the onions and garlic. Serve with some rice.
Hot Smoked Salmon with Potatoes and Dill (2)
Black Pudding, Bacon and Potato Hash (4)
This restorative recipe is from The Bicycle Shop in Norwich and I found it in ” The Norfolk Cook Book”. They serve it with Spinach and Poached Eggs, and recommend a Bloody or Virgin Mary on the side. In September 2023 I will be staying in Norfolk for a couple of weeks and I am really looking forward to trying some of the local produce, especially the seafood.
Tomato and Pomegranate Salad (4)
Apricot and Harissa Chutney
Eggs Benedict Strata (6-8)
Everybody loves Eggs Benedict, but lets face it making the Hollandaise Sauce can be a bit of a faff especially when you are hungover and hungry. This recipe is a riff on the traditional version from ” Notes from a Small Kitchen Island” by Debora Robertson. This savoury bread and butter pudding is even better if prepared the day before and then cooked the following day. If you like you can add some halved cherry tomatoes to the mixture and/ or serve rashers of crisp bacon and sizzling sausages alongside. And of course Bloody Mary’s to accompany – or Virgin Mary’s if preferred.
