  1. Heat the oil in a saucepan, then put in all the other ingredients. Mix well, cover and simmer over a low heat for about 8 minutes until the beans are cooked.
  2. This can be adapted to make a milder dish with more sauce by frying a chopped onion in the oil for 5 minutes before adding the remaining ingredients and 125 ml water. Simmer uncovered for 8 minutes.
