An easy recipe from Ken Hom’s ” Fragrant Harbour Taste”
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef steak fillet, sirloin, rump or bavette
Marinade:
- 1 dssp light soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tsps dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp rice wine or dry sherry
- 1 scant tsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsps toasted sesame oil
- 8 fl oz coconut or groundnut oil
- 1 dssp white sesame seeds roasted
Garnish
- 1 1/2 tbsps finely chopped spring onions

Instructions
- Place the steak in the freezer for about 20 minutes then cut into thin slices against the grain. Add to a large bowl with all the marinade ingredients. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
- Heat wok until hot and add the oil. When the oil is hot and slightly smoking add the meat and stir fry for about 2 minutes. Drain in a colander and reserve the oil.
- Return 1 dssp of the oil to the wok and reheat. Add the sesame seeds and stir fry for 10 seconds, then return the meat to the wok and stir fry for another minute.
- Turn on to a serving plate, garnish with the spring onions and serve.
