Ella’s Vegetarian Paella (4)

This paella recipe is from Ella Woodward who was inspired to make this by a dish she tried in Columbia. Its not a typical  recipe as the spanish would never use coconut milk in paella! Ive reduced the spices a little.  If you are not vegetarian  you can add some prawns about 5 minutes before the end of cooking.

Polenta with Purple Sprouting Broccoli (2)

I love Purple Sprouting Broccoli especially at this time of year when it is so tender it can be eaten raw if freshly picked. My supplier of choice is Sarah Green’s Organics who has a stall every fortnight at my former local farmers market in Stoke Newington. You can of course use different greens- kale would be a good alternative.

You can add more cream, butter or hot water to the polenta if preferred to make a soupier mix.

Gnocchi with Gorgonzola Sauce (2)

A Jamie Oliver recipe for Gnocchi. Naughty but delicious! In ” Cook with Jamie” Jamie Oliver gives instructions to make your own potato gnocchi but i use ready made versions, which in the UK are readily available from Italian grocers or supermarkets like Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. I have had delicious versions made with spinach or pumpkin, as well as the plain ones.

2 tbsps gorgonzola cheese A small bunch marjoram, leaves picked
3 tbsps butter Parmesan cheese for grating
6 tbsps double cream Freshly ground black pepper

  1. Heat a sauté pan on a low heat and add the butter, cream and cheese.
  2.  Mix together using the back of a wooden spoon until you have a smooth sauce.
  3. Season with black pepper.
  4. Cook the gnocchi according to packet instructions, then drain and toss in the sauce
  5. Serve with plenty of fresh grated parmesan and the picked marjoram leaves
